A Displaced, First Time RV Owner from NC

I promise this is not meant to be a sob story, quite the opposite actually LOL

I'm a brand-new, never owned, never even been inside an RV before, owner of a 2013 Vengeance 397v toy hauler. Me and my furbabies (one being a service dog) were displaced due to a housing crisis impacting more than 20,000 people in our city. My landlord was impacted by it and lost her home and had to move back into her family home, which I had been living in and maintaining for the past 10 years.

Unfortunately, due to this housing crisis, no homes, lots, apartments, mobile homes, etc were available anywhere. Campers started showing up in droves all over the city because campgrounds up to 100 miles in all directions were completely full and had waiting lists going into spring of 2022. People were parking campers with their children in empty parks only to be driven off by police, it seems just about every other mile you drive, 3 and 4 RVs are sitting on single lot homes because family members and friends of home owners all over town have been displaced. It's been scary and stressful.

I'm here today, an excited new member of IRV2, because some how some way this paycheck to paycheck girl, with no established credit (never had even owned a credit card) had the craziest thing happen and this 40' toy hauler fell into my lap, with a private sell and an agreement to just pay the HUGE cost (atleast for me) of the RV off monthly until paid off. And then more crazy happened, and a brand new resort that isn't even opening until November/December time frame, heard of my plight, and is taking me, my furbabies and my RV in this upcoming week, even though they're still under construction, just so that we will have somewhere to stay.

It's been a very emotional experience. I went from a 3 bedroom house on 9 acres of farm land for the past decade to a toy hauler that I don't know the FIRST THING about.

So... I'm here! This community was recommended, and when I say I'm a newbie, as you can see above, I AM A NEWBIE! But, I'm very, very happy that such a community exists and honestly, I don't believe in coincidences, and believe that everything happens for a reason. As hurtful and stressful as all of this has been for so many, not just myself, I'm actually looking forward to the idea of having a more simpler life, and I think this will bring that... hopefully LOL

Thanks, for letting me join your community! I'm so excited to be here, and sorry in advance if I start picking everyones' brains as I struggle through this transition wtih this big boy!

Welcome to the group from Williamsburg, Va., for now. Next week we will be at the Outer Banks for a week. One thing to keep in mind things will break and need to be repaired, so keep an easy going attitude and it will help.
Sometimes things can be repaired easily by yourself other times, you will need a mobile tech or a shop. When something happens always remember you can get advice from here, some good some bad, you will need to decide.
