A newbie with minor electrical problem
Hello all;
I'm new to RVing as well as iRV2. I just purchased a new JayCo 145RB. It's the beginners model! Well, had a hitch installed on my 2006 Odyssey and the dash board icons for minor hazard, VSA and ASB lights stay on. I took the car back to the hitch installer, who had someone with a scanner check it out. No codes showed up on scanner. Told that because the batter was unhooked and re-hooked, that this caused the problem. Told lighted icons would go out in time. (Probably when the bulb burns out.)
Does anyone have any insight into this problem. My mechanic thinks I need a new computer in the Odyssey. Pretty pricey. Any other ideas out there? Car seems to brake OK.
Anyway, glad to become an iRV2 member and look forward to more exiciting blogs about upcoming adventures. Plan to join ROD, this weekend.

The people who installed your hitch should be the ones to get this issue resolved.
If I'm reading this post correctly, you didn't have this problem until the work was done by that shop. you should insist they fix this.
You may need to get the better business bureau involved if they wont own up to the problem and fix it.
If you don't trust them, (and I can see why you should not) take it to another shop, and if the problem is verified as having been caused by the first shop, they should reimburse you for the bill.
I can see the possibility of small claims court in your future on this one.
Good luck
DTW

You might trying to disconnect and re-connect the battery again, and see if anything changes. I would suggest you google search auto forums to see if you can get insight into this issue on your specific vehicle. Brute force way to fix is to visit a Honda dealer, chances are they will be able to use their diagnostic machine to reset without replacing anything, but you likely will be hit with at least a 0.5 hour labor charge a.k.a a bill for $ 100.
