Almost owner in North Texas
Hello,
I am almost an owner in North Texas of a 1992 Hawkins Motor Coach. Thought I would join up to start learning the lifestyle. We have never owned a MH or Camper of any type other than a tent. I already have a lot of questions so Thanks in advance of helping us learn.
Looking forward to joining the "family" and meeting some of you!
Where is the best site to determine value. All the ones I find seem rather low compared to actual market place sites. NADA is way off compared to what I see for sale.

Nice to see joining a great lifestyle.
You will most likely get more responses by using our Vintage RV forum.

Hawkins used to a nice unit. As to value for that age, a lot depends on condition. Getting a motorhome that is 28 years old, can be a money pit. Tires, brakes, hoses, fluid changes, generator, refrigerator, A/C unit(s). All of these can be major expenses if they fail. It can run into thousands of dollars. Get it checked over before you commit.
If it smells moldy, there is probably a leak. If the refrigerator smells of ammonia, it will need to be replaced.
Before, I would take a unit that old on the road, I'd get a through check of the mechanical parts of the chassis and check tire age by the date codes on the tires.
I don't want to sound negative, but be realistic in expectations and be ready for repairs.

Great looking rig, if the sale goes thru and after Covid settles down you need to head south to show it off. I live in B/CS and have a spare 50 amp plug along with plenty of room. Live outside the city limits so no one can tell me what I can park
