Another Michigander
I've been retired for about 6 weeks, and DW has been retired 1 1/2 years. Our dream has been to tour the country for a couple years (ie FT). We're currently looking at several different MH's, trying to figure out which one would best meet our needs and be best value.
We'll be selling our current S&B (not a viable long-term as VERY handicap UNfriendly -- not an issue now but 15 years down the road may be a different story). So we're committed to FT for a couple years at least. We intend for our CRV to be our toad. Only definite goal is Washington State by Labor Day
I joined because the different forums are giving great insight as to what to look at / consider. Now how to figure out 'best value' within our budget ...

Hello and
Great to have you join us! What type of MH are you thinking of? Gas vs Diesel, length, bath 1 1/2 or not, handicap accessible, new vs used?
Lots of help here, tell us more.
Best wishes,
W.D.

Welcome from another Michigander!
Been about 8 weeks since retirement for me. DW still working for a while so no long trips in our KSDP purchased last June.
Best advice I can provide is be patient and ask lots of questions. Find something you like, get it inspected and test drive before committing.
Best of luck in your search and travels!
Cheers

Got one!
We've done a LOT of looking and reading, some actual looks. This afternoon we found one that we think will be very good for us. I think we even got a decent deal. Will probably close on it Friday 4/1.
We will be the proud owners of a 38' 2004 Newmar Mountain Air (gasser) assuming all goes through ok. Our new home-to-be!

Congrats on your retirement. Hope you really enjoy all the time you can spend together. We evidently have the same model you're looking at. We only 1/2 time. 6 months in MI and the other 6 in FL. We've owned our coach since 08 and love it. Hope you build many happy memories with yours. Good luck and be safe on the road. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. Plenty of info here.

Needs vs Wants
We're currently assembling a list of things we will really need to get vs things that are nice but could do without (at least for a while). It looks like the previous owner removed a lot -- for example, there's the power cord but no hoses (those are 'need' category). Any suggestions are most welcome.

Welcome Aboard, We also are from Michigan and new owners of a 2004 Winnebago Adventure 35U have had it for only a month. So we also have lots of questions and this seems to be a great place to ask, listen, and learn. Good Luck
