Hi.
The wife and I are picking up our RV tomorrow, which happens to be our 1st Anniversary, but more about that later.

We plan on traveling, including a trip to see her family in California in April, but also doing mission building.

I am retired military and would like info on what I have seen as the Golden Pass(?) for national and state parks?

Also, the unit we are purchasing doesn't have a back up camera system, so are there any recommendations? The unit is a 22 foot motorhome.

Thanks

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You're gonna like it in here. :Wavey:

Congratulations on your first anniversary.

There are back up cameras out there you can install, and some are wireless. Just do a search for backup cameras.

Happy Trails!!!

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! Keep her between the ditches!

The Senior Pass (that's what it's called now) will get you into all national parks, but does not apply to state parks. You can get one at most any national park. I believe you can apply for it on-line, but the cost is more. I think you have to be 62 years old to get one.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Thanks to all. We picked it up yesterday and will spend the day familiarizing ourselves to it.

God bless, and have a wonderful day.

Hi Top2MP,
First Thank you for your service to our country. Next Happy Anniversary.
Call your local VA Office or your local DAV office. They can usually tell you what you have to do to get the military pass for the parks. (Different states have different rules/names for the pass). My husband is retired military too (20 yr) and he had to fill out a form and send in a copy of his DD214 but the form and the copy had to be faxed FROM the local VA office.
Also, retired and active duty military can stay on the military bases. It is really nice! Go to U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks - Home for the directory separated by state. Usually each campground has their own rules and regulations. Some are reservation, some are walk up only. Some are on base, and some are close to the base but run by the military base.
Welcome to the RVing world!
Karen

Thanks, Karen

You gave us a lot of useful information. My wife is a former travel agent and has been researching the military campgrounds for some time. We are currently planning a trip to southern then northern California in April.

Thanks for all your help.
