Another newbie
Howdy y'all.
After 20 years of seeing all the "wonderful and exciting" places that Uncle Sam wanted me to see, it's finally time to kick back and see all the places I actually want to see.
Already had plenty of truck, so we decided it was time to step up in comfort a bit from the tent camping we've always done, so we picked up a new Durango 336RE a few weeks back. We had actually been looking for the past 9 months or so and we finally settled on this layout as ideal for the wife and I, along with out two spoiled rotten 4-legged furry kids.
Certainly not new to towing, but this is our first RV. Have always had car haulers and flat beds to support my other wallet emptying habits. The current tow rig is outfitted with a Companion hitch to go along with the B&W GN that has handled the car haulers.
But anyways, here's the rig. If anybody spots us out and about, please feel free to drop in. Just watch out for the killer attack dogs......that's if they'll get off whatever piece of furniture they've decided to occupy at the time.
My names Rich, the wife is Amy, and the kids are Harley and Tollie.

That's quite possible as close as we are. We're just down the road a bit, over in Phenix City, AL. We'll be up at Joe Wheeler State Park the weekend of the Jan 25-28.
We're usually over in Reynolds, GA a few times a year at Silver Dollar Drag Strip with the one of the cars or my old "tow rig".

Thanks folks.
We've already done the driveway camp to make sure it didn't have any major issues before actually taking it out. So far the only thing wrong is the TV crapped out, so that's being replaced under warranty.
Next weekend we're gonna boondock it for the weekend at one of the places we like to fish at here close to home. I want to make sure all the self contained systems are in order before we actually hit the road on the 25th.
The trailer doesn't have an on-board genset, but we do have both a 30 amp, 8500 watt portable generator and also a Honda 3000 that we'll use this weekend. The big generator is nice, but it's the one I normally keep in the car hauler forgoing to the track where noise isn't an issue. It's too loud as to use as a camp generator. I'll probably do some work on the exhaust and see if we can quiet it down a bit and make it useful.

Rich,
In most camps you will be hooked up to their electricity so you won't have to worry about your generator being noisy. A lot of camps do not allow the use of generators.
Let us know when you are going to be in Reynolds at the drag strip and if we are around I'll try to make it.

Here's where we're gonna go next weekend. It's a little hard to see in this panorama shot, but that finger that sticks out there is MORE than wide enough to back down a ways and setup. Look out any window and you'll be looking out over water.
This place is close enough to home and civilization to address any issues that come up, but its far enough off the beaten path that we can let the dogs play and not really see anyone other than some folks fishing and canoeing / kayaking.

Yeah, I'm more thinking about being off the beaten path. Not only do I not want to tick off the neighbors, but I certainly don't want to be out in the middle of no where, enjoying some peace and quiet, just to listen to a loud genset.
I'm a "bit" handy, so fabricating an exhaust for the larger generator with a enough sound deadening to make it bearable.
