The main roads going into the states often have Welcome Centers, where a person can take a break, gather brochures, and ask about tourist destinations. In our travels, we found some treasures by asking the helpful people at the welcome centers "what would YOU see?" The answer is often different from the brochure rack.

Hi and welcome. I'm sure you'll be getting a cell phone to use in North America, so one of the camping apps I have found to be extremely handy is the Allstays RV app. It will even give you a fair bit of information about local services and campgrounds when you're offline.

We're from BC, Canada and use it often while traveling in the US. I don't know what the cost is these days, but it's well worth the money. Here's a zoomed in picture of the app on my tablet.

Bringing Vegemite

It's different in lots of ways but also quite similar, at least on the surface, being another English speaking former British colony. The culture is certainly different, less relaxed than NZ and Australia. More religious. Americans get upset about things that I wouldn't give a damn about in NZ. A lot of government processes and ways of doing things seem old fashioned.

I live in New Hampshire where the winter weather is becoming a little tedious. The novelty of snow wore off pretty quick.

I think the relationship between Canada and the US is a bit like NZ and Australia. Quite similar but distinct differences, one often in the shadow of the bigger neighbor

We're getting close to retirement. Moving back to NZ is a possibility. Before that big step, we've been thinking recently about doing an RV tour around NZ. I have to admit that most tourists have probably seen more of NZ than I have. I grew up in the Waikato but lived most of my adult life there in Auckland.

I'm probably the only person in the northeast who has a Vegemite sandwich for lunch most days. If you need it, you can buy it on Amazon.
We plan to bring vegemite with us, it and a little coffee to see us through the flights, hotels and travel are the only food items making it into our luggage.
