Back to RV from Large Boat

Yes I got tired of the big boats and decided to come back to an RV again.

This is such a great site with so many experienced RVers to pull info from. I know it will save me some time and money by using this site for help. Maybe I can share some of my knowledge and experience that will help someone out also.

My family had campers, travel trailers and a Winnie way back and I love camping with many fun family memories. This is my third coach but it has been several years since I had one.

I ran across a 2004 Holiday Rambler Imperial Diesel 400 Cummins with 4 slides, Aqua Hot, 52,000 miles and really clean so had to have it. These older coaches are made really well and I just enjoy doing my own thing with them. I do almost everything myself if possible.

Recently got in from my first trip, a 1400 mile run and what a pleasure to drive a diesel again. Averaged 8 MPG so happy considering I was in a head wind and coming thru the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains.

Look forward to chatting with many of you and please don't be a stranger. Stop by anytime.

Thanks to everyone for wecoming us!!

Good Morning everyone,

Thanks for being so kind with your responses to us being new members! We look forward to staying in touch and learning new things from all of you.

Glad to see the sun! I'm in the process of some projects on the Imperial this week so we will be ready for some trips next month.

I am replacing the 4 house batteries this week and am leaning toward the Trojan 145. The 105 would be fine but for a little more the amps would be good to have. I would have like to have the Lifeline or Trojan AGMs. The Trojan Dealer says that it takes an inverter/charger that can be set to AGM to charge them at the right settings so may not be an option for me.

My 04 HR Imperial has a Xantrex RV2012 and I don't see a setting for AMG batteries so would probably have to do an upgrade to one of the new Pure Sine Converters/Inverters for this option. I am planning on doing that anyway but not right now.

If any of you guys have feedback or knowledge regarding the above let me know.

Have a great week to everyone!!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I know what you mean about the fun of driving your DP. We hung up our keys last year and ironically, the thing I miss most is driving my coach!

All the best.
