Back to the RV lifestyle...
When my wife and I sold our last RV in 2008 I thought that was end and never to be a part of the RV scene again. We decided to enter back into the RV community recently and are thrilled to be back as weekend RVer's. We are headed out this weekend and can't wait! What havei missed? Good to be back in with our Newmar Scottsdale 2005 addition.

Howdy from NYC and SC and welcome back! We did the same thing. Sold our pop-up way back in the mid 1990's and went the vacation home route. Back in 2010 we both got the bug again and bought an r-pod travel trailer. That lasted one trip when we decided we needed bigger. Another TT later we bought the MH we have now and never looked back again!

We had a similar experience, but ours was financially driven. We bought an '85 Class C to see whether we liked the RV lifestyle. We did, but that rig was such a piece of junk, it cost us too much. We figured that two seasons of camping, maybe 5 times each season, cost about $450 a night.
We had the dreaded Ford 460 manifold distortion problem ($1400 fix) and major problem with the brakes ($800 fix) plus we really hated the corner bed configuration and the two pedestal tables. You put chromed steel tubes into unprotected holes in a plywood floor and they wobble.
It had the humongous anti-smog set-up that went with a carburator-equipped engine then, and we only got 6 mpg at sea level and about 4.5 at altitude (and there's a lot of altitude around here wherever you go).
We waited about 6 years while we rebuilt our finances, then bought our present rig three years ago in a private sale, advertised in our local newspaper. We're happy to be back in the "game", but aren't sure how long we can stay in. Costs have gone much higher than our previous adventure (gas was only $1.75 a gallon then) and on a retiree/Soc-Sec/ company pension, it's tough to keep going.
Maybe another two seasons, then we'll re-evaluate. We'll both be in our 70's by then, with me 3 years ahead of DW.

Welcome back
We also sold our 31' 5th wheel & traded our Dodge diesel dually for a SUV in 2008 thinking we was done RV'ing. Not enjoying the motel route or staying with family when we traveled so in May 2010 we bought "The Little One". It is a Rockwood Minni Lite 1809S a 1/2 ton towable.
Have been very happy with this setup - even spent 11 weeks in AZ this past winter.
