bluebird
i only want to say this:
we own a 2006 bluebird 450 LXI. we bought it new. on june 1, 2013, we were travelling northbound on I75 , 45 miles south of cincinnati.
our left front tire blew, and we slammed into the center concrete divider.
our injuries were minor, but we are very bruised up.
the motorhome is severely damaged, as is our jeep, which was in tow.
WE HAD TIRE FAILURE WITH A BLUEBIRD.

What brand of tire and how old where they? Was there any determination as to what caused the blowout?
Thank you for sharing the info about your misfortune. I sincerely hope you guys will quickly recover and your motorhome is repaired.

Glad to know you're ok, but sad to hear the news. If it were me I'd still be shaking!. Do you know why the tire failed?

Sorry for your mishap, glad you only had minor injuries. How old were your tires? Were you using a pressure monitor. Hope you are able to have things repaired and back on the road soon.

Welcome to iRV2. Sorry about your accident. Your post really doesn't tell us much. Was it the fault of Bluebird in your opinion ? What tires were on the coach and how old were they ( if original , they were getting close to or at what is considered by most to be aged out )? I realize you stated that this is all you want to say , however I'm sure that a lot if our members would like to know more.

I have been selling and servicing passenger car and light truck tires for 35 years now, the number one reason for failure I see is under-inflation. It can happen fast to, pick up a nail, drop 20-30 lbs and the internal temp of the tire will hit 500 degrees real quick. A pressure monitor system is a must have imho.

Sorry about your misfortune.
As Clifftall said, your post seems to make a point that you had a flat tire with a Bluebird. I'm not sure why you seem to emphasis that it was a Bluebird. I drove school buses many years ago and had flat tires on Bluebird, Wayne and Carpenter buses. Tires are tires, some brands have fewer flats than others, according to drivers, but they all can fail.

Howdy and welcome! Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but as others have stated...any motorhome can have a blowout. Bluebird is not exempt from issues with tires. Hope you get everything fixed and can resume your trip, and glad to hear there were no injuries to people.

sorry. i am new at this. these were michelin tires which were about 5 years old with about 20k miles on them.
the reason i post is because bluebird went bankrupt due to the LXI450 having weight issues. there were several recalls. the generator had to be moved to the middle of the coach, taking away storage room. the awnings, made by girard , were too heavy. there was a fatality in 2007, leading to other lawsuits, alleging that bluebird knew all along that there were weight issues.
i suppose my venue should be a bluebird forum, to let those people know. and also,,,, my husband always checks tire pressure. he worked with trucks for his entire career. i am not saying the buses are not safe. i am sure they are. but bluebird coachworks is gone.....because of a huge engineering mistake.

Welcome to IRV2! We're glad you joined us! 
So sorry about your accident! That's the reason I bought the Steer Safe steering stabilizers right after buying the MH! I didn't need them to improve the steering but only to keep me from losing control if I had a blowout on the front tires. Hope you get back on the road soon!
