Braving camping with the kids!
We bought a 1983 Fleetwood Century this weekend. Good shape, needs a little work. We want to try camping with this kids - a 9 year old and a 2 year old. Our biggest concern is that we could probably use new cushions. Any recommendations?

Recommendations??? Yep. You've got kids and camper.......go get out there. Everything else will come in time. Cushions are just cushions. The kids don't care. Start the adventure and make those memories!

We will be getting out there. But my husband has a bad back, and he's afraid the current cushions are going to make him immobile for the weekend. We'd be sleeping on the fold-out couch. Truthfully, I don't think my husband's ever been camping except a couple of times we've slept in a tent in people's yards. I grew up camping in a pop-up every summer.

A bad back can ruin an entire adventure. With a fold out couch, you can place an inexpensive air mattress on top the cushions. The air mattress can be tucked away during the day or used out on the lake.

Yes, the foam mattress toppers can also make a great bed out of an uncomfortable situation....available at walmart and many other stores. New cushions on a fold out will still not make a good bed. Check out the Tempur type foam toppers.

I am not sure where you are located, but there is a Huge Motorhome parts facility in San Bernardino. They have a ton of cushions with covers with matching materials. You can just pick and choose. We had an 83 fleetwood at one time and found many matching items there. Unbelievable selection for all years and models.

Kids plus camping = a great time. Ours started out in diapers and are entering the Depends era and are still camping and in tents to boot. I would venture a guess that we have more bad backs than good backs so we know the pain. I have a tri fold pad we carry and it works quite well. No worries be happy.

Then put the kids on the fold-out and you guys take the real bed. Oh, and get a bottle of Advil for the weekend.

We're in Ohio, so San Bernadino is a little bit far.
And there is no "real" bed!!!
