Bucket List

Hi all, and thanks for such a great forum.

Well, I'm fifty [moderator edit] eight years old and this door to a new life has opened in front of me. My two wonderful kids are on their own. My most wonderful Jack Russel terrier passed away this summer at the age of 17, ... been single for many years, raising my kids on my own for the most part. Had two business, one being a furniture builder and the other a race car builder and designer of suspension parts. During this time I have been restoring my 1790 homestead to original condition for the past 20 years. OK, .. I was whining there for a bit.. LOL.
Anyway, I decide to sell my home so I listed it on Sept 1st. Figured I would have a year or two with it on the market and during that time I could unwind all that I have wound up in the last 22 years here in this small town. Go figure, the house goes into contract within a week after listing and my closing is this month. Now, not only is my home here, but all my work as I work from home. I have a LOT to get done. Storage container already delivered and several tons of woodworking and metal working equipment will be packed into it until who knows when

Soooo..... after looking at several house and apt rentals I just became so very depressed with the whole situation. Due to some minor health issues I decided to somewhat retire. Long story a little shorter, I see that now is my perfect opportunity to check off another item on the bucket list, .... to buy and travel in a motorhome.
So, I am sure I will have several questions in the next couple of weeks, though many are being answered just by digging through all of the threads here.

Thanks for reading.

Fifty-[moderator edit] Five here! And, we know where to get wonderful Jack Russell's if you ever want to go down that road again. We have 2, only 4 years old, and they LOVE all the jobs that come with RV'ng. Welcome to the site, let us know if you need the info on the pups, or anything else for that matter. Good luck!

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Greg! It's great to have you here as a part of this community! Good luck with selecting your MH...with your experiences in business and race car building, you will enjoy the process. Just jump right in these forum pages and start asking questions and researching.

As for the "clearing things out of the house in a limited time," well....I'd volunteer to help you out, but my back hurts, I have a hang nail and I think I hear my Momma calling me.... Seriously, good luck with all that needs to be done.

Howdy and welcome to IRV2.

One thing you should think about is getting rid of all the stuff you put in storage if you are having to pay to store it. Give the heirlooms to the kids if they want them and sell the rest. You will make enough selling them and save enough by not paying storage fees that you can buy new stuff if you decide you need it. Another plus is that you won't have to worry about some lowlife breaking into your storage unit.

Good Luck,
Jon

Greg,

Congratulations on the retiring. If your kids are in that area and you plan to visit often, see if you can find a lot with a pole barn on it for storing your stuff. If it has enough room for a workshop and storage for the MH all the better.

Good luck with finding what you want and need. Sorry about your dog, that always hurts to loose them. Lynne
