buying 1st RV, need inspector recomendation

Hi all,

I am in the market for my first RV, I found one in Deland, FL and need to get it inspected.

It's owned by a private party. I am from out of town (way way out, like Seattle), so I need someone who can do a good inspection without me watching over the process.

Is it possible to find someone who can check both the chassis/motor and the 'house'?

Also, any thoughts or suggestions about using an escrow company to hold desposit money? Worth it? Waste of time/money?

Thanks!

Good Morning and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time on the site. I'm sure someone will be along to answer your question regarding the inspection. I am not familiar with the area of FL you are in but you may try contacting an rv dealer near by and see who they may suggest. Just a thought. Good Luck and hope all works out for the positive.

Howdy Trix and welcome to the forum. I'm not in FL either, but I did a quick BBB search for an accredited RV dealers and found this... Find BBB Accredited RV Dealers near Deland, FL

You might also do a search for RV repair shops in the area and see if one of them has master RV technicians who are qualified to do the inspection for you.

I don't know anything about using an escrow company for such a transaction, but be very careful about sending a large deposit until you feel confident about the sale. Perhaps you should negotiate a very SMALL refundable deposit until the inspection is done. Good luck to you.

One thing you might consider is doing a search on RV repair schools in Florida. They may be able to point you towards one of their graduates who may be able to help you.
