Checking in from chilly Ohio!

Hi all, I've been lurking on the forum for a quite a while now and have picked up some great advice! We have been seasonal camping on Round Lake in lower Michigan for a few years now, first in a 1999 Prowler Fifth Wheel and now a 2017 Keystone Springdale 311RE. But what we really wanted was a motor home, and last week we picked up a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery DP. Unfortunately we can't keep this at our seasonal site because there is a 15 year age limit

We will use the Discovery a few times a year and really it was a bucket list purchase and a deal we could not walk away from. I hope I can still say that in a few years lol.

Anyway, it's great to be on the forum and I look forward to getting and hopefully giving some great advice!

Thanks Joe and Annette! I have read many of your helpful posts on the forum

We have a lot to learn about driving this rig. It's the first Class A I have ever driven! And we never towed our fifth wheel or trailer. The first short drives were easier and less intimidating than we thought they would be. But it was country roads and little traffic. The first time driving in heavy traffic or a construction zone is going to be stressful for sure

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new coach. Take it slow, practice a bit in an empty parking lot. Remember your deep breathing and enjoy the drive.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure

A lot of campgrounds with the 10 -15 year rule will make exceptions, especially if your MH is in nice shape, and by the pictures, it looks in nice shape. A lot of place with that rule might want to see a photo before they say yes. These parks are trying to keep the real clunker looking RVs out of there.

Good luck.

Hello & welcome to iRV2 from a fellow Buckeye. Discovery coaches of that era were great machines. Yours looks very well kept. I would agree w/Tony, you should at least provide some pictures to your seasonal park since some do grant exceptions.

Wishing you many happy miles.

Thanks for the comments folks. As for our seasonal park making an exception, that's not going to happen. I spoke with them before we bought it. Heck, the owner's son wanted to buy an older coach to keep there and they said "no". The park has a waiting list a mile long so they have no reason to bend the rules, even though our Discovery is nicer than 90% of the newer units in the park. It' unfortunate.
