Well, we never thought we'd find ourselves owning an RV much less loving every minute we can spend in the darn thing. Long story short we needed something to stay in while visiting the grandkid near Chicago. We live in New Mexico. Our daughter, her husband and nearly 1 yr old Grandaughter are in a rural area where the nearest hotel is 30 miles from their house. The wife said "what if we bought an RV? " Before she got the words out of her mouth I was on the hunt. And in a months time, after several dry runs to other states to look, we found a great entry level gasser.
I'm a DIYer and so I've enjoyed pouring over and under the Ol girl (the MH) learning all I can. I did the Banks Powerpack and Transcommand, complete tune up, brakes, surface refinish (note to self: pay whatever it costs to have someone else do that next time) sound system, entertainment system, and put 4 new tires on the drive axle. Every time I get done with something and mention a test drive, the wife is perched up there in the front seat so proud and pretty. "Wow, she's says, you can see everything up here."
So far we've taken a few short trips (Pendaries NM is the best kept secrets in the country) but have a 2 week trip to Chicago in Sept. We thank the Lord for this unusual blessing in our lives. I'm 57 and she's .........7 years younger so we have a lot to look forward to. I'm not much of a diesel man but from what I'm reading I'm leaning toward the DP next time. Just keep trading up til we get exactly what suits us.
Have learned a bunch from you all already. Thanks for letting us join the group. Hope to contribute something some time.
