Checking In from Reno NV
Time to check in! I'm Paul Moon and my DW is Marilyn. We've owned a few RVs over the years. 2 Class C, 1 Class B, Slide in camper, and currently a home built motorcycle tent trailer we tow behind our Harley ElectraGlide. (See Avatar). We're in the market for our next RV. We're looking for a 2011 or '12 Winnebago Tour 42qd or the Itasca equivalent. We'll probably buy next fall. Then live in it full time. I'm still 4 years away from retirement (early at 63). After that, hit the road, and not look back! We'll keep our Domicile as Nevada most likely. Anyway, just thought I'd say Hi and we're looking forward to following the forums as we move toward our full timer goal.

If you're thinking of full timing and keeping your harley, consider the Damon/Thor OUTLAW or Cyclone 5th Wheel. Both are toy haulers.

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Paul & Marilyn. Thanks for the picture of your cycle and camper. That's a cool looking rig. Good luck with finding just the right rig!

Welcome to the forum. Once you go full time you may want to rethink keeping NV as your state of residence. They are not RV tax friendly at all. As you probably know from registering your current vehicles part of your fee is what's called a Government Services Tax. This tax is based on the MSRP value of your vehicle, and can get expensive for a motor home depending on its value.
Just as an example the GST on our 2009 Phaeton for this year was $2,000.
I would recommend researching SD, TX and FL, and doing a search on this forum.

Yes! That has been the one MAJOR problem I have with NV! They taxed me the MSRP on my used subaru and my Harley and both were much more than I spent. That said, I currently live in Reno NV and will for the next 4 years for work. So I'm stuck with that for at least that long! To claim otherwise and use Tx, SD or FL which are the most common states for Domicile would be Tax fraud! Hummmm..... I'm feeling kinda stuck with that....So I'll still need to put more thought into our domicile after I retire and really actually leave the state. Thanks!
