Checking in from South Carolina
I've been lusting after a toy hauler for a decade or more.
I've now got a '12 F350 SRW Diesel and am pretty determined to get a toy hauler this year.
[moderator edit]
I've pretty well narrowed it down to the Forest River XLR Thunderbolt 375AMP due to it's 8000lb load capacity. The layout is pretty good too.
Here's how we roll today

After posting a welcome, I went to check the specs on your trailer. It is shown as having almost 8000#s payload. I couldn't believe it. Wait, I don't believe it. One thing that I couldn't find easily was the gross loaded weight of your trailer. I doubt it is 20,000 pounds. If it is, you will still face hurdles of towing that much weight with your truck (I believe that ~14,000 pounds will max out Ford's guidelines for 5th wheel towing with a SRW truck). There will also be a limit to how much weight you should carry in the garage (mine is 2000 pounds).
375 AMP
Dry Weight 13366lbs
GVWR N/A
Cargo Capacity 7575lbs
Hitch Weight 2888lbs
Axle Weight N/A
Here are the specs for my trailer....
300 x 12 Thunderbolt
Dry Weight 10395lbs
GVWR N/A
Cargo Capacity 5404lbs
Hitch Weight 1858lbs
Axle Weight N/A
I can tell you that in real life, with 30 gallons of water, 10 gallons of gas for the generator, no gas for the gas station tank, 2 dirt bikes, and clothes and food for 2, my trailer is at the 13,885 gvwr posted on the tag on the side of the trailer.
I will be glad to share my XLR experiences with you. I love my toyhauler, and would make the same buy again, but it hasn't been trouble free.
