Talking Couple with 5 furry kids new to RVing

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I just purchased an old Class A from a friend so we could take our furry kids with us RVing. I joined the forum because all of the "dog friendly" sites touted by people who write books and set up internet sites consider a campsite that llows 2 dogs on a leash to be dog friendly which for us dog owners certainly isn't.
I was getting a little disheartened until I found this forum. I have already seen some great posts from people who travel with as many as 14 dogs and even located a great picture of exactly how I wanted to set up our outdoor space around the camper by fencing it it in with ex-pens and a doggy ramp.
I am hoping I can learn about rv sites in the Northeast on beaches or lakes which are dog friendly so we can have fresh fish and lobster. Even if they are boondock sites.
I look forward to chatting with you all. The RV will be staying up in Oswego COunty for the rest of this season so Hubby can fish on Lake Ontario, but can't wait for my first RV Trip.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We full timed with three dogs and didn't really have any trouble to speak of. We would occasionally run across a park with a two dog limit but even in those they were sometimes willing to make an exception.

The killer is the parks in popular areas which charge a daily fee for each dog. It can add up in a hurry.

Our favorite place for dogs was probably Four Paws Kingdom - The best kept secret for Camping with your Dog! in North Carolina. We spent a month there a couple of years back and loved it. No kids allowed... just dogs.

A close second was Charleston County Parks and Recreation - James Island County Park in Charleston, SC where they have the best off leash dog parks I've ever seen.

Good luck.

Rick
