East Coast recommended dealers

Hi, First post here though we've been surfing the forum for a while trying to absorb as much info and experience from other users as possible. We're planning on traveling from Ct to as far as Fla on an information seeking journey to gather as many facts as possible before taking the plunge and buying our 2nd RV the first time.

We're retired, low 70's, active and have reviewed the checklists for newbies. Purpose of the trip will be to finalize the type of unit and potential place where we will buy based on reputation/service/and qual of units. Right now, the plan is a fall purchase with an eye towards a used higher end unit.

If anyone has a dealership they'd recommend we visit based on your experience with them, please comment. NIRVC and LD (Tampa) are already on the list.

Welcome to the forum.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. Stop in any of the larger dealers (lazy Days, General RV, la Mesa and such just to see lots of rigs under one roof. Do look at the Tifffin DPs (yes I am biased)

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

I got mine from Independence RV, great place to work with and it's in that general area you're going to be in. They're very good with pricing and service.

Have you ever owned or used an RV?

If not I'd suggest renting one for your trip south and I'll guarantee you that by the time you hit Florida you'll know exactly what you want and, more important, what you DON'T want.

It's so weird being the same age as old people.

Having been following the forums for a while, I've seen that about LD before. Some people with less than acceptable experiences and some Youtube influencers who rave about them. Thank you for the comment. We'll certainly weigh it with the others and add Independance. We hadn't come across them before on line and were blown away by their inventory listing.

X2 on the idea of renting first to get the best feel of what you want and don't want. My situation was different in that I intentionally bought a very old RV for next to no money and used it as my trial vehicle, especially to test out the life-style. General RV has a location in Virginia that is right on I-95. While my own purchase was a "Baby" Entegra gasser, they treated me very well. In fact, a trim piece that was off during my initial purchase view had been fixed by the time I took delivery. But they apparently had ordered a new trim piece and they really had to work at it to contact me when it came in because I was on a trip and outside of cell coverage for a few weeks. I declined the new trim piece because the original fix was more than perfect. They are expanding their facilities and should be more than ready for you in the fall. Good luck with your adventure!
