Family of 4 in Wisconsin
Good Day,
I appreciate you reading this, whoever you are. My wife and I are just about to buy our first 5th wheel and we are having several issues that I hope are common among new buyers. Any insights into these would be greatly appreciated.
Our biggest problem is finding a full time camp ground. We are in southern Wisconsin and really need to stay within driving distance of Milwaukee. We can't find any campgrounds that suit our needs that aren't almost as expensive as our current mortgage.
We also wouldn't mind connecting with other people about how it is to live like this full time with a family. My wife has a 5 year old from a previous relationship that will be with us off and on and we have a 5 month old...and a big Shepherd.
Anyway, thanks for reading!

Glad to have you here with us.
I can’t help with CGs in Wisconsin, however there are forums here that you should explore. The full timers forum has people that are already doing what you’re wanting to do. There is also one just for camping location. Make yourself at home and browse them all. Let us know if we can help you.
Happy Trails!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your soon to be new coach. Have you ever spent some time in an RV before? If not you might want to thy it for a week or so in a rental unit to see if it works as a F/T program for everyone. It is a whole new lifestyle with a bucket of new problems.
Finding a place will be hard especially an a restricted budget. Many folks are doing what you want to do and parks are getting full faster and hence owners are charging more.
You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share.
Enjoy the adventure.

Have you camped/RVed before? Are you looking to sell your house and live in your RV full time, or wanting a seasonal spot near Milwaukee because you live there?

Welcome to the forum!!
Going full time is a huge lifestyle change and many find a steep learning curve without having the basics down first. Believe it or not, it isn't nearly as easy as it looks on youtube or reality tv.

It might be cheaper to rent in a mobile home park and preserve your 5th wheel capital.

We are buying our first 5th wheel and selling our house. We need to stay reasonably close to Milwaukee because we have a 6 year old who will still be attending school here, at least for now.

The only place in the milwaukee area is the State fair park. Its the only place within 50 miles.we stay there when I come into to town.It is not a good park ,nothing is flat ,all asphalt, wifi works sometimes and alot of traffic.
40 a night and discounts for monthly stays.
