Finally going FULL TIME
Hi Y'all. Gary and Marian Hill, three ankle biters in our 2003 Thor Hurricane 30', 8.1 Workhorse. We retired from 25 yrs California Dept of Corrections back in 2007 and are finally getting ready to go fulltiming. We are all packed and heading to Morro Bay Calif as soon as the snow melts here at the house. Home Base is 4000 ft up Hwy 88 near Pioneer Calif. ( 60 mi s/w of Lake Tahoe ). My Toad is a 2012 Harley Sportster on a Lowes 5x8 open trailer, highly modified for the Harley. It is less than 2000 lbs so should tow ok. We also have a 2002 Chevy Tracker but I prefer the Harley, which I just can't bring myself to leave behind...
After reading some posts on the Workhorse section, I am a little anxious about burnt plug wires and froze brakes but I fix my own stuff when possible and plan to take prevenative maintainance. We have never had any problems in 16000 mi since new. We have been cross country to Georgia and trips to Vegas and Moab Ut, so I guess we have been lucky so far. We try to travel light except for the toad. opps I'm out of room....more later

1. Your brakes most likely will qualify for the recall? If so, has it been done.
The original brake fluid will generally be replace on this recall.
2. Carry spare plug wires with you. Any good quality wires from AutoZone, Advanced Auto, NAPA that fit any 3500 Chevy with the 8.1 will work.
3. Check with Dale Olson @ his website, Oemy's Web Site - and see if he still has the fuel filter conversion kit that gets away from the OEM Work Hose filter setup as the filters are cheaper.
4. Check your plugs and air filter, Oemy, NAPA, and change if needed.
5. Occassionally run a (3) cans of Seafoam, Sea Foam | Motor Treatment | General Content - Motor Treatment or (1) 20oz can of Techron Concentrate, Walmart.com: Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner, 20 oz, 6-pack: Automotive in an 80gal tank of fuel.
6. You might also consider going to a 1 or 2 qt oil filter instead of the OEM 1/2 qrter. Since I change my oil at 1 yr or 5000 miles, I use a good quality dino 10w-30 oil in the engine.
You should be good to go so enjoy and "Get R Done".
