First RV, First trip

We bought our RV in November and we are now enjoying our first long trip with it. We left Titusville on the 4th and will return on the 23rd or so after going to Washington DC. As my neighbor said, "you'll be lucky if nothing happens!" Truer words were never said. The first day, our dog got off his leash and ran 1.5 miles down I-95 on the shoulder. Day three, our KarKaddy, which we had our Honda on, LOST THE LEFT WHEEL! COMPLETELY! So there I was, on the side of I-85, IN THE RAIN, putting on the spare with only 3 lug nuts (2 studs broke off during the tires' departure) and semis roaring by! My wife had to drive the rest of the way to DC until we could get the trailer repaired. So far, since then, nothing else bad has happened....to be continued...

Didn't check the lugnut torque? I have a KK-460 that I haven't used in years, I think the instructions say to check them.

Ah the RV adventures begin.........

It's all part of the program.
As long as no one gets injured etc.........LAUGH it off.

Learn from it and continue on.

Besides.......you are RVng!!!!

Titusville...
Have fond memories. Love the area........lack of bugs/on shore breezes
Got to see TWO Endeavor launches . First nightime one and then it's last one.
The only place in FL we liked.

In times like these my favorite saying is

"I will endeavor to persevere"

We went on a trip and had 3 flat tire in the first 200 miles and a truck lost a piece of plywood and hit the front windshield, my wife suggested we go back home, I declined, found a shop to put 6 new tires on and away we went.

Yep, got mine out and looked, right on the fenders is a sticker that instructs you to keep the tire pressure at 50 psi and the lug nuts at 120 ft lbs.
OP, did you check the torque as required?

Most problems are caused by me, silly things like not latching the battery tray, it slide out rounding a curve, A trucker got my attention. Left the key on the tow car Dead Battery, Forgot to drain the outside shower line,Froze and now needs replaced. Just returned from 30 days and all in all we had a great time. A few repairs and some Maintenance. Then on our way.

Valland, like you said, most problems are caused by me! I didn't check the lug nuts before leaving so of course my tire decided to leave me! Just one of the many hundreds of things that need to be checked before a long trip. I guess I need a better checklist! However, future trips are going to be with a flat towed Jeep so no more KarKaddy! That said, I'm sure there are a few dozen other things I'll need to check before our next trip! On our way home tomorrow so let's hope we have no more incidents...to be continued...
