I guess this is why hubby is now suggesting short trips with the RV until he is sure he has everything fixed correctly and only THEN a longer trip. I SO badly want to hit the road but he pointed out that on the road breakdowns are really gonna get expensive.

I just wanna GO!

I believe you did the right thing. I have been at HWH 3 different times with 3 different coaches and was very satisfied with their service. Please report back to us and let us know what the fix was and your service experience.

Just got home from my trip to HWH Corp. In just a few minutes they determined my electric motor that drives the pump had died. So after replacing the motor they twice ran through the set down and then retract jacks cycle. We are going to try again this weekend at a different park(Lake Story) that has 50 amp service.

Our second "camping weekend " was a great success. Everything worked like it was expected. We went to Lake Story near Galesburg, Illinois for 3 days. They have 50 amp hookups with good voltage(115-118). It is a nice RV site about 2 miles off I-74. Our leveling jacks worked like they were supposed to and leveled the coach quickly. All in all a great "practice" weekend. Maybe we are ready to try a longer trip.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new rig... and surviving the past couple of weeks.

Sure glad things got better for you but it's really common on new coaches and you'll probably need a year or so to really get the kinks worked out. Just be sure to learn as much as you can along the way... it'll come in handy down the line.

We are at Stagecoach RV resort across the street from Table Rock State Park in Branson, Missouri. So far our trip has been uneventful other than a closed Hwy that our trip planner sent us down. We had trouble finding places to pull off the road to rest and finally stopped at a Walmart. Not so good for rest due to being noisy. Out coach has worked great. Having an issue with ref coils-fins icing up. We purchased a small fan at Walmart in the RV section that was supposed to help with this issue that is not doing its job. All the RV owners seem friendly and have been giving us suggestions. So far a great week. I guess we are finally getting the "hang" of operating our Dutch Star.

We have Good same emergency road service which has all kinds of assistance if we ever break down....there are other emerg road service plans which will give you a huge measure of relief starting out.....And like Joe said...you'll laugh about all the little start up hick ups you had on your first trips. When our turbo blew...twice..I just had to shake my head and laugh...and we had a real funny story .... has to do with a blank tank and a main st in Yakima....lol

Hi all! I am a newbie too!! I just inherited a 91 fleetwood camper trailer from my grandfather. It's in terrible shape. News a new rubber roof due to a leak and a new section of wall as well as many other things lol! But we are going to take the challenge of fixing everything ourselves as much as we can!! We are so excited because we see the potential it has!! Anyone have remodeling advice!?!

Depending on the model fridge the frost build up is easily solvable.
So do a search on this forum; refridgerator fan. Lots of information on how to do this. It's cheap and effective a DIY.

If you can't find anything just ask it in another thread and you will get tons of information.

Welcome. Good luck with your new challenge. If you check the net you will be able to find just about everything you need to know about repairing/replacing things in your coach. Most of the fixtures can be purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Just a suggestion for future postings. If you will start a new post you will get better results rather than adding on to somebody else's post.

On the bright side, you picked one of the best coaches on the road in my humble opinion. There is always something to maintain but when you look at some of the other units around you, you will begin to realize your Newmar is hands above most of them.

We're doing a fixer-upper too. I think the best part is getting to plan our cabinets and bunk system as well as built in pet carriers inspired by something I saw at the Astrohall dog show cluster, marine finish wood with white laminate interior--everything sealed and smooth and lovely. Slide a nice big dog cushion in so the dogs don't slip and perfection!

I keep planning and hubby keeps working. The man is amazing.
