First time RV owner
Hi,
I was recently given a 2003 30' Jazz model 278 by Thor from a coworker! It's a fixer upper. Need new battery, top ac units, slide out motor to say the least. I'm sure I will find other things to fix. I can't find any manuals or Schematics online so I've written Thor to request. I've never even had a camper before so any tips you can share would be appreciated. It's a 5th wheel with a gooseneck attachment and my truck doesn't even have a gooseneck hitch yet so that's on my short list of things to do as well.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Probably a million things to check and I’m sure you’ll get a lot of input. I’d focus on the tires and the age if you plan to tow it. If so I’d definitely get a spare. Congrats on your new to you rv and enjoy. Safe travels.

You may have a hard time finding any schematics on a 21-year-old rig. For the appliances, you try the manufacturer of the appliance, not Thor.
Welcome to the group.

To "preserve" what you have, you need to ensure the roof is not compromised. Old or existing leaks are bad news for RVs. 30ft is a good size 5th wheel, what size truck are you planning to pull it with?

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!
Congrats on the new rig! Owner's manuals are usually too generic to be much use. You can write down the make and model of each individual system and Google for manuals.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

2019 ram 1500 tradesman 3.0 L RWD. How can I find out if that truck is capable if I put a gooseneck hitch on it? I'm having trouble figuring that out. The total weight of the camper is 8790 lbs.

I am not the expert here. My understanding is that few 5th wheels are made to pulled by 1/2 ton trucks. 8800 lbs sounds very heavy to me. Also assume the pickup is a std or long bed model too? More knowledgeable owners will be along shortly to help--I am sure.
