First time RVer starting with a well cared for 2004 HR Neptune
I've always wanted a motorhome and have finally decided that at the ripe old age of 40 I should stop waiting for the "right" time and just do it. It took some convincing on my wife's part but finally after a year of discussion and looking, we (myself and our 7 year old daughter) talked her into it. I will admit, I'm so happy that I have to sit on my hands to keep from clapping! We've had it almost a month and have only taken a few short trips (hour or less) to grab dinner in the trucker parking section of a fast food restaurant or mall, just to get ourselves acclimated with driving, parking and maneuvering it. We live on a farm so I'm accustomed to driving large trucks but as many members have posted, it's a whole different feeling driving a DP 36' long. I just winterized it last weekend as the temps are starting to dip in Eastern NC and I was extremely blessed to have a previous owner who wrote specifics and tips in the manual for me (the second owner). Anyway, enough rambling from me, excited to be an RV owner and thankful to have a gracious forum of fellow owners to learn from and share with! Blessed beyond measure, and thankful for it!

Guvoner,
Welcome to the forum. Wow, sounds like you got a great rig! I understand your excitement because we just got ours in May and live in MI so ours is winterized too.
Some advice we received here was to camp in the driveway just to get used to how things work. You and your daughter can do that and you are still close to home so if you need something you can just go inside and get it.
Living on a farm you probably have electrical in a barn and water that you could hook it up to. Sewer will be the biggest issue but you have time to work on that if you have a dump station close to your location or can get one of the portable units to dump into your septic system. Gives you something to think about this winter.
Lots of threads here to read through this winter so you will have a lot more knowledge when summer comes and you can de-winterize your rig. Don't forget to get a pressure gauge and filter for your water supple line. CG's (campgrounds) are notorious for having too high a pressure and dirty water. You can get those at Walmart or Camping World, probably about $30 for both.
You are going to have a blast! Enjoy your rig and take advantage of this forum, lots of great people here willing to help.
Lynne
