From across the pond
Hi all from another UK RVer
Thought I'd join in as more often than not research, or occationally problems bring me here to irv2, and there certainly seems a wealth of information here, that and a question, but that can wait.
I'm Si, wife Sarah and our Westie Shelby. RVing for us started 2005 with a ebay moment, no intension of buying a motorhome, let alone an American one saw us buying without looking at it, don't, I know, stupid doesn't even begin to cover it, a 1977 Dodge (user name?) chassied 22ft c class by Brougham Coach. More faults than even this forum has space for but, we got her fixed up quickly and were hooked. Four years later, a 95 Winne Brave 28RC in immaculate condition was our next. This changed our lives deciding to leave the 'rat race' and go fulltime, this happened 21st December 2012, and we love it.
We made the mistake early last year of poping into an RV dealer over here just to get some ideas, left with a 2008 Damon Daybreak 3070
So that's the simple version, don't promise to be able to add much, more of a reader but you never know.

It's great you got yourself into a nice big American coach. They stand alone. I've seen some of what is offered in the UK and they do seem quite cramped, to me. I'm no Tinkerbell in size and I doubt I could stand a coach smaller than an American build.
Even so, many of the American coaches are quite sparse for we larger folk. I find the toilet to be the key factor in a no or go on a buy. Some floor plans in even the more affordable coaches can range from super narrow to fully open, when it comes to the toilet space. I don't know about you, I need me some space in this very sacred place . I'd almost sacrifice the vanity and sink just for open floor space in the bathroom of a modern coach.
Cheers to you and yours..

Thanks for the welcoms folks.
To answer some questions, Chertsey in Surrey, (to) near London. We work for the Camping and Caravanning Club so we're here for the summer. The plan, second year now, is 8 ish months working a year with the rest on holiday, and yes the plan is southern Europe for the winter, ie cross the water and head south until it's warm enough then slow down and potter about.
The coments on size especially the toilet made me laugh. Looked at one RV, 34 ft, realy quite nice, until. I wandered into the toilet and like the poster, contemplated usability. On closing the door I was wedged between the door and counter top, and I'm not that wide. Seemed so daft concidering the size of rig, big wide isle so the manufacturer could easy have made the room usable.
And yes, euro motorhomes are cramped, looked at a few for interest, but we'll stick with the RVs

Welcome from an ex-pat Brit. We've lived in the US since emigrating in 1968, all but three years in Washington State. The three years were in the Hampton/Newport news area of Virginia, when I was working at NASA-Langley. I put 28 years in at Boeing, retired at 57 to get away from the excessive overseas traveling. We now live in a small seaside town in north-west WA, called Anacortes.
Originally, DW and I come from Leyland in Lancashire.
