Future RVer!
Hello RV community! I am still 5 years away from retirement, and the first day after I retire, I plan on seeing this great country coast to coast in my own RV! My first question is where do I start my education? There seems to be so, so much to know. All I know is I have a desire, everything else will be news to me!

I have a friend, Steve, on the forums here that is always saying something like plan your work, and work your plan... meaning, make your 5 year plan and keep chugging away at it bit by bit and when you hit your goal, you are home free!
Some questions to ask are,
Is it just you or is there a spouse/ other person you will be with.
Have you ever lived in a relatively small box before for more than a week?
You might just start out your plan with renting a unit for a 2 week vacation and see how that goes for you! We learned through experience, my spouse can only handle being in our 'box' for about a week max. After that, he gets grumpy.

Practicing!
It is a good question whether I would be able to live in a relatively confined space for any length of time. I think renting a unit a few times is a fabulous idea!

Yes, my spouse will be traveling with me. She retires at the end of this coming May. We will both be educating ourselves over the next five years! So excited!

Glad to have you here with us.
Why wait five tears? You'll have a lot of missed adventures. Beside you will know what it takes to go on a full time basis. Make plans to rent an RV a few times, you'll answer most of your questions yourself. You may need a large RV to be comfortable. Maybe not. Find out now.
Having an RV as your retirement home is enjoyable. Your surroundings change all the time, or whenever you want them to. It's like being on a different vacation whenever you want to.
Good luck with your search. As questions in here and Happy Trails!!!!

Why wait?
No I should not wait! Waiting 5 years would be many missed adventures. Plus, by then we should have a much better idea of whether this hobby is for us or not. This is great advice!
