We live in Alaska and "snow bird" in AZ. Will be heading south next week.

We keep a 5th wheel, Pickup camper and a pop up we tow behind a motorcycle down there year around and fly back and fourth.

We use the 5th wheel as a "home base" and wander around by pickup camper or motorcycle depending on the weather.

Hope to get some information on fun places to visit in the south. Been to a lot of areas around AZ looking to head east.

Welcome to the forum. Go east and have fun but do not think you'll find things as they are in the southwest. We've been snowbirding in the southwest for 10 years and love the ability to stay someplace for a few weeks then move on to some place else. Be it Quartzsite, Havasu, Yuma, Phoenix, Tucson, Cottonwood/Sedona or even Las Vegas, we go where the whim takes us. A few years ago we thought we'd explore Florida and the Gulf coast but we were sorely disappointed. Although there are a few exceptions, parks in the east are higher cost, older, smaller and tighter and not amenable to folks moving in and out. Reservations are usually required, many times a year or more in advance, and refund policies are terrible. Lots higher density of snowbirds, and locals so crowds and traffic jams can be daunting.

Try it and see, but don't expect the southwest's easy going ways. You might like it, but we sure didn't. Once was enough.

By the way, we travel to Alaska every 2 years. Just got home in Sept with a 17 cu ft freezer full of Salmon, halibut and shrimp. When we eat it all we'll be back. This was our 7th trip.

Rode my bike to Key West a couple of years ago. Got caught in spring break......quite a mess. However, I went by what looked like some fun places on the way. We would like to spend some time in Texas "Hill Country" and the Gulf Coast. Don't think there is much in NM in the winter.
