Greetings from Alberta

Hi folks my bride and I are going to purchase a DP and go full timing some time between now and next spring. I've been researching and lurking on forums for a good long while. Time to join up and ask some questions. I've learned a lot from reading through the post on this forum. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to visiting Alberta this summer. We plan to spend a night in Pincher Creek, then hit the Crows Nest Highway on the way to Vancouver.

Just a word of warning , when traveling in the Vancouver area. A 25 mile section of Highway 1, is undergoing major rebuild. GPS navigation is useless,, in the construction area, have a map handy.

I have not been across the Crowsnest pass in many years. In summer it is a very busy road. It's also a very winding and scenic road. Take your time and I know you will enjoy the trip.

Dan, I hope you are not among the thousands ,effected by the current flood situation in Alberta.
I wanted to add a word of warning, be aware that Canadian Full Timers are restricted on their travel into the USA. Check with the Canadian Snowbird Association for info on this.
OK , just pulled out a map, and found Whitecourt , hope you are north enough to be out of danger, haven't been able to get in touch with a friend in Hinton to check conditions there. He was out RVing last weekend and I can't get in touch.

Hi Skip. Thank you for the tip on Canadian Snowbird Association. I will check that out. We are far enough North and so should Hinton to be unaffected by the terrible flooding going on in the South. My Dad lives in High River. He was one of the lucky ones who lives on the outskirts and only has sewer back up in his basement and was able to drive to his sisters safely. The water levels came up so fast there were many folks who saw the water start to run down their street, they grabbed some cloths and supplies into the car and then could not pull out of the garage because the water coming down the street was a raging torrent. Crazy stuff.
