Smile Greetings from Rocket City USA, Alabama

Hello, I come to the forum after buying my new to me 1999 Coach House Wide Body Class B. The unit is built on a Dodge B3500 Van Chassis and appears to be solid like a tank. I do have a few cosmetic issues to mitigate but nothing major. The vehicle has 54K miles and I bought it from the original owner. All in all I am very happy and look forward to an aggressive camping season. I used to own a 2007 Casita FD but lost it in a wreck in Oct 13. I don’t think I’ll go back to towing anything. I just finished a Southern Utah trip with “Big Edna” and she performed like a champ. On avg I was getting 13 – 14 MPG which is what I was getting towing my Casita with my Toyota Tacoma.

My first order of biz is I would like to replace Big Edna’s rear carpet with laminate flooring. If you have any insight into this type of work I am open to hear your suggestions. I certainly do not want to reinvent the wheel… I go by Shorty and welcome any and all of your suggestion. Feel free to email me at huevo_movil@yahoo.com or via this medium. Best. Shorty sends…

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Shorty! And congrats on your "solid like a tank" new wheels! Hope all goes well with your plans for upcoming trips and you have a great time getting back into the swing of things. There are a ton of forums here to check out and I'm sure you will find info on flooring. Also, you might check the upper right section of most of these web pages....there are generally "search" options in that area. You can search the whole site, but you can also search within a particular forum or thread. Good luck!

I just replaced all the flooring in our 2003 Daybreak. Went back with carpet in cockpit and bedroom, but put laminate in dining/kitchen and bath. I will say as I was hauling the boxes in I realized how much more than carpet it weighs. It's not hard to do if you're half a handyman. If I hadn't already had the laminate left over from a home project, I might have gone with some of the new vinyl planks.

Thanks for your feedback and comments. Yes weight is a concern but the area I am doing is relatively small. Look forward to continued collaboration.

Welcome to the forum. You will find plenty of knowledgeable people here help and feel free to chime in if you see a topic where you have knowledge.

We took our 8 year old granddaughter to "Rocket City" over the 4th of July about a year ago to view the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, and surrounding area. What a great time we had. Fireworks shooting right up among the gigantic rockets, a first class museum, plenty to do for all age groups. You sure live in an interesting area. I highly recommend this U.S. Space & Rocket Center to anyone who grew up in the space age

Again, Welcome
