Guess I should introduce myself...
After some time lurking, reading and learning from this site, I've joined because I wanted to reply to some other people's posts. I didn't even introduce myself! So, here goes.
I've been resarching an RV purchase for over a year now. I'd already had a list of RVs with bunks that would suit us and the TV was bought. Then we went to the Hershey RV show back in September. While there, my fiance wanted to look at the toy haulers out of curiosity, so I went along with it since we were almost ready to leave anyhow.
Well, let me tell you. I went from thinking that toy haulers were just for boys and their toys to seeing the wisdom in the usefulness of that garage for other uses. While standing on the patio of an XLR Thunderbolt staring into the garage with the table and bench seats set up and the overhead bed lowered a bit, I realized that a toy hauler was a way to have extra sleeping space without giving up space to bunks, plus we could eat in there and have more room to do so vs. a regular booth table or dinette inside the RV. I was sold on a toy hauler in that moment. I'm glad we ended up with an F350 rather than an F250 we were looking for originally.
So, I had to start me research all over, sort of, to find ones that met my other specifications. Hence, I am here trying to learn all I can before the big purchase. Forums such as these are gold mines for doing research, so a big Thank You to the admins and sponsors for being here and keeping things going!!

Welcome to the forums! I think you make a valid point. I can see toy haulers evolving into assisted living units with very little effort, for example.

Howdy and welcome to the forums. In the past three years I went from an R-Pod travel trailer, to a 34' travel trailer to a 36' motor home. Seems each year and each new show we see something else that catches our eye, so be prepared... LOL

Oh, Wow! I hadn't thought of that! Another great idea for toy haulers, for sure.

Hi, CampersRus! Congrats to both of you on the impending retirement! You're so lucky!
Isn't that something that an RV that was initially designed for one primary purpose would actually lend itself to many other practical things! I've noted that people are using the garage for extra storage, home office, hobby room, traveling to shows to sell products, and probably more I hadn't thought of. It's too bad so many of the manufacturers discontinued toy haulers when the economy first started hitting rough waters. I think they lend themselves well to a broad set of buyers.

Hi BobbiC! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you found us! Good luck on finding just the right rig for your needs! You're very smart to spend all that time researching instead of just jumping at the first one that impresses you! Good luck, safe travels, and God bless!
