Hello
We are somewhat new on here and have been thinking of going full time for a while..any suggestions? Mail, closing up home for extended trips and 2nd car.
The longest we have been gone is 3 months and we had premium mail forwarding because we were staying in one place but that gets expensive. When we start our trip this September we will not stay in one place for probably more than a week so the mail issue is something I am concerned about. I could get someone to mail it to me but hate to inconvenience someone for that long of a time.
When we were gone before we used a solar charger to keep the battery charged in our 2nd car that seemed to work any thoughts.
The house seemed to run it self. We are lucky to have a neighbor that would let us know if anything was wrong like security system waking the neighborhood.
Thinking out loud.
Stay safe and happy travels.
Thanks,
rvjag

Some thoughts:
You can lower the insurance cost on the stored vehicle at home.
We have a few Brite-view PlugCAMS at home now so we can check our home anytime we want. We also have a great neighbor keeping an eye on things. We also use one in the MH to check on our dog when we are away for short periods on the road.
I use the plug in light timers to give the house a different look each day. Not sure how effective it is but it makes me feel better to do it.
Turn the water completely off. One home in our neighborhood was recently devastated by a leak when the folks were gone. No way to tell it was happening on the inside.
Cant help with the mail thing but I will see what folks say and learn with you.
Have a great time.

Check with you insurer to see if there is a policy change required if the home is unoccupied for a period of time.

We too turn the water main off when leaving on any trip no matter how short. Also, most if not all utility companies have gone paperless with their bills. Since we do all our banking and bill paying online, i can pay them anywhere.
