Hello

Hi Everyone,

My husband, Fred and I have a 2013 Leisure Travel SS (meaning it has slide!) Motorhome. We just started Rving in August 2013. We attended one Leisure Travel Van rally in May and plan to attend the National Rally in September. We have about 6 six weeks of camping experience so we still have a lot to learn. One lady in Florida told me it was "Always Something" when RVing. I surely hope that is not true.

I have done a lot of reading but any suggestions or tips that will keep us out of trouble and make us more knowledgably RVers will be appreciated.

Happy Traveling,
Judy

Welcome to RV'ing.

I would not be overly worried about the "always something" statement. An RV is like a house. Just living in it will make things wear out. Just like a house it will require maintenance to stay in the best shape possible. Regular cleaning both inside and out will go a long way to identifying issues. Sealant will crack, awnings will deteriorate, wood will get scratched, rugs will wear out. Life is more concentrated in an RV so wear will occur quickly in the high traffic areas. Just like a house.

In spite of all of this the tasks are not onerous if you keep an eye out and fix the issues early before they become problems. It will take a bit of adjustment. Talk to the folks around you. Listen to the conversations and then apply the knowlege to your RV home.

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Judy & Fred! Glad you decided to join. RVing is definitely a lifestyle and it requires some adjustments along the way. And, yes, some maintenance is required. But, we have found that for some reason the adventures just won't come to us...so we go after them in our RV.

You can learn a lot from folks in these forums; I know they have helped us a lot with all kinds of questions. Good luck and safe travels!
