Hello all! Our first motorhome!
Hello all,
My wife Kim and I recently bought a 2009 Winnebago Itasca Sunova 35J Bunkhouse. We absolutly love it! It is our first Motorhome and we are almost ready to hit the road with the kids (7 and 9). It's great to find such a nice forum (we are going to need it).
Thanks for being here,
Joe and Kim Hesano

Welcome Joe & Kim!!
You, most definately, found a great place to call "home" on the Internet!
I am a newbie (only had my TT for 3 yrs in July) and I have asked my share of questions to the experts here. There are no 'stupid' or 'silly' questions and you will get nothing but support-- so don't be shy.
Oh yes, we love pictures and are avid readers, so please share!!
Sheila

Wow!
Wow! What a nice response and welcome. Thank you all. We are trying to decide on our first trip. It will be 7 days (March-April). We would like it to be warm (South from here) and a great place for the kids and the dog. Our trip will start from the 70 miles West of Chicago and we will be towing a Jeep Wrangler. Any ideas for a first trip? It will be an adventure!
Thanks again,
Joe

Welcome to the world of RVing. You will enjoy your travels and as stated above it is nice that you can take the children with you.
Check out the Winnebago forum for the answers to the millions of questions you will have and also the forums covering your chassis. Also the Winnebago chat on Tuesday evening.
As you explore this site there are many different items that might interest you. Do not be afraid to ask the questions, we all had to start someplace.
Winnebago also has an outstanding web site you can get information concerning you unit and can be downloaded fr your use.
Good Luck, head south on the first trip, and many happy and safe miles

Joe,
Welcome to IRV2. We started RVing in 1998 when our 3 boys were similar in age to your kids. Two are in college now and they STILL go on vacations with us (along with buddies and girlfriends too).
My kids have been to 48 states and the two older ones have started to branch off on their own road trips.
As for suggestions, my kids really like St. Louis with a ride up in the Arch and a Cardinals game. You can stay at the casino campground right across the river in East St. Louis (good part of town). They also love western Kentucky and Land Between the Lakes (planetarium, bison and elk preserve, birds of prey, and boating on Lake Barkley). Stay at the KOA at Prizer Point. Both places are easy rides from Chicago and a great first trip.
Good luck!

You will be bringing up the next generation of rvers enjoy your trips and family time. We have camped with our kids all over the U.S. and they still talk about it today they are grown and married with families of their own now, and both are campers. We have a bunk rig and now use it with our grandkids. You will make some great memories. ENJOY!

Joe and Kim,
You're a days drive from Smokey Mountain national park. Between the park and all the attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlenburg there's something for everyone.
Regardless of where you end up, you and the kids are in for some real 'quality' time together!

Hello Kim & Joe,
We are getting ready for our first trip with a 9 & 11 year old. We are leaving from Madison going to K.C. to Branson then to Texas. We are very nervous everything will be fine. Good luck and safe travels!

scottschiltz...
We've lived in the Madison area for over 35 years. Years ago I hangered an airplane in Waunakee. We've been RVing for almost 30 years. If there's any questions I can help with, don't hesitate to ask.
To each their own, but we feel RV travel is THE best way to go. You will hit a few bumps in the road now and then, but just stay cool. The worst of those bumps make great stories years later -- we've got a few. RV people are generally more than willing to help, frequently without you're even having to ask for it.
Especially with kids, try not to push too hard, just to 'get there'. The journey is at least half the fun, or should be.
Happy trails!
