Hello and help!

I am using this blog for the first time. I am recently retired and plan to move from Oklahoma to Arcata, California, and will reside there year-round. I would like to know from those who are experienced RVers how I go about setting up a residence in CA.

rushfan,

Welcome to the Forum! There is a search engine on this page. Enter "setting up residence in CA" and see what it brings up. Don't live there so I can't help.

Good luck though, Lynne

Assuming that you plan to rent or purchase a home then you need to obtain a CA driver's license which requires a residence address.

Welcome. We live in the central portion of CA. Been to Arcata several times on our way to visit an aunt in Crescent City. Establishing residency should be as simple as obtaining a CA driver's license, registering your vehicles, and doing a change of address for all your mail once you are settled in. Hope you like it here. Happy travels.

Yup, getting in is easy. Driver's license and auto Registration and establish as address. The hard part is getting out. (-:

I found it VERY easy to leave after 16 years in the LA area. I packed up everything that I owned either in the coach or the Pace cargo trailer and headed for Alaska to spend the summer with my family. After transferring DL's and vehicle registrations to Alaska I sent both the CA DMV and Sacramento forms noting my address change to Alaska.

Never heard from CA ever again.

Now once we get back to Florida in November we will be switching everything over to the state of Florida as we bought a winter residence in Flagler Beach last April.
