Hello everone

Just joined up after lurking for a while. My wife and I have just got back into TT camping after about 17 years of only occasional tent camping on the Islands of Lake George in the Adirondack's.
I'm pulling my 29' Cougar with my 15 Ram Eco Diesel witch has been a great combination although the the Cougar with the front kitchen is rather tongue heavy. I'm about 400 lbs over weight on my rear TV axle. Working on that.

Right now I have one question. I'm looking for some travel info on what roads are safe for travelling with the trailer. I know that there is a web site out there called Low bridge.com (or something like that) witch addresses low bridges but I am looking for other potentially hazardous routs such as extreamly narrow roads, parkways that we can't get on, tunnels that we can't go through ( I think ALL tunnels are restricted if you have propane), narrow mountain roads with hairpin turns ect.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome and congrats on the new rig. We have a 660 garmin (760s also work) GPS designed for RV travel and after loading your info in it will warn you about most hazards including low bridges, tunnels, narrow roads, unimproved roads, restricted highways and such. We have been using it for almost 2 years and 15,000 plus miles and never have had a problem.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! A good RV GPS would be an asset! Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Glad to have you here in the forum with us. You're gonna like it here.

There are several options for you. At most truck stops you can get a truckers map, which can give you all the answers you need. Second option is an app for your smart phone. Most will give you routing help and restrictions that apply to the highways you intend to travel on.

Some tunnels allow you to go thru with you carrying propane. Eisenhower tunnel in CO. and Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia allow it. Might be others.

Happy Trails!!!

Hi there...we have a fiver and found that Amazon has excellent RV guide books...for routes...one is RV Routes, and one is Trucker Routes...same difference really...designates roads for larger rigs.....another on RV or Trucker fueling stops....i.e. for larger rigs with diesel available is another one....also one each on mountain passes east and west....recommended i.e. grades, curves...etc...and ones absolutely not recommended....also another book Next Exit....essentially lets you know what is available off interstate exits....I use these all as cross reference one for another...also on line you can at times get pictures of truck stops etc...happy camping...and good luck.
