Hello from Alaska

Hello all, I have been doing the RV thing in Alaska for 30+ years, DW and I are going to try to become snow birds in March 2011 when I retire from the last 30 years of driving truck for the state Of Alaska. We have made 14 trips
from Ak to CA to visit the grandparents and now that the kids are all groan ,maried and have made us the grandparents we would like to slow down and see more of everything and everywhere. We look forward to getting to share a little and learn alot.

Hi widetrak60 welcome to irv2.
Great state Alaska spent 2 years up there Army 57-58 putting communications in the ACS system at the time traveling the highway system from Anchorage to Fairbanks & Northway. Rail to Curry installed repeater site in box car because of fire.
They sure kept the roads travel able even in winter.
Enjoy the forums and good travels in your retirement.

widetrak60:

G'mornin from Casa Grande, AZ, and a GREAT BIG WELCOME to the iRV2 gang. Nice to have someone from your beautiful state here on the forum.

My wife (Lynette) and I have been on the road full time out of Duluth, Minn. since 05. Needless to say we've managed to avoid snow, ice, and cold ever since. Although........after visiting Alaska in 07, we've often considered movin up there permanently since we were so enthralled with the place !

So where ya located anyway?

Again, WELCOME.

Steve & Lynette

Ken (widetrak60):

That Willow area sure is beautiful. We only passed through on our way S. from Talkeetna to Kenai but we do recall commenting on what a nice lookin area it was. On our way off the Kenai headin toward Valdez, we did spend some time over at a campground NE and immediately adjacent to Palmer. We'll always recall our day trip up to Hatcher Pass and our visit to Independence Mine. BOY!!...that route atop the pass is a rough one, but beautiful.

So, what are your winters like in the Willow area?

Steve & Lynette

A big WELCOME from East Tn. I see via KTUU Tv it's +13 in your area. Here it's now up to +32. It's been more like your range of temps here. You have one of the most memorable states I've ever visited. Come south and experience the warmth...
Again Welcome...
