Hello from Colorado
My wife and I are newbies to the RV scene (we have yet to purchase our RV) but not to spending a lot of our time tent camping. 4x4 to a remote area and find the beauty and solitude of our state and others nearby.
We never thought we would be interested in buying an RV, in being honest. We considered ourselves hardcore campers and backpackers and frowned on these monster rigs. Well, our ideas have changed.
We want to travel, see more of the world and find new energy from being on the road exploring. We have nothing holding us back, no children, just a cat, and dog. We want to do this full-time and have a lot of things to consider and have some questions.
These 2 seem to be the biggest ones.
1. Creating a domicile in another state? We have been reading a lot about it, but nothing seems to be very specific. My wife found something about doing this in South Dakota, being one of the easier states to work with.
2. New versus a used RV? I am personally leaning towards a used RV. I also am undecided between Travel Trailor or 5th Wheel. I really wanted the use of the back of the truck as extra storage.
Anyway, I am glad I came across this website which I'm sure will help us with other questions, and to be able to speak with like-minded people.

Nice to have you here.
A lot of people use SD as their residence state.
Yes the used RV is a good way to go if it’s in great shape. You will have let someone else take the depreciation.
We have a Full Timers forum and you can get a lot of opinions there. Ask questions and make yourself at home.
Let us know if we can help you.

Welcome to the forum.
You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.
We left Colorado (foot hills west of Denver) 15 years ago and now for over a year Full time in our MH. We use Florida (no state Income tax and low vehicle registration fees) as our domicile and it was easy to set up using St. Branden's Isle in Green Cove Spring. We have our Driver's license and voter registration with them as well. They are a mail forwarding service so we get snail mail with them.
Many here use Escapees for their registrations. Many also use SD and Montana.
Good luck and enjoy the adventure!
