Hi Everyone.
Just joined the forum today and I am hoping to receive some input.
My wife and I are in the process of purchasing a
Heartland BC 3070 RE.
Unfortunately, my English is not good. I hope you understand me.
We have a vacation home in Florida and want each year 6 months traveling through usa.
Now, I am however confused about what kind of truck size?
The research on the Internet does not provide clear statements.
All major brands, whether 250/ 350 or 450, the same numbers for the towing capacity. (with the same Axle Ratio) What I have to say, we decided for a
diesel.
Here are the facts:
Ford:
GCWR 23,500
Towing 15,700 to 16'600
only double wheel has more DRW 23,500 to 24,900
Chevy:
GCWR 24,500
Towing 16,900 to 17,900
Dually 22,600 to 22'900
Heartland:
GVWR 15,500 lbs
Dry Weight 11.740 lbs
Hitch Weight 2,315 lbs
Axles (2) 7,000 lbs
So, whether I buy a 250 or 350 diesel, the GCWR is the same and also the max towing is equals. According to the manufacturer, this should be no problem with a diesel. (??)
Now I have entered these numbers on this
website.
Result: 5th Wheel Towing Max is
7500 or less.
I see many travelers with a
petrol engine (2500) pulling a 5 wheel foot with 40th
according to this site, these all go in the
illegal sector.
Most 5 wheel trailer have a GVWR between 11,500 and 18,000.
Most diesel truck have a GCWR between 22 'and 25'000
therefore must each truck with a 5 wheel with GVWR of more than 15,000 a be
dually.
Or what I have misunderstood?
I look forward to becoming well informed by all the experienced people that are members of this forum.
Thanks for your help.
