Hi Everyone,
As you know, I dinged ........ well, anyway, it didn't knock the house down...... My in motion antenna cover somehow was damaged when I pulled the motorhome under my home (where I park). It's a long story of Charliene's Best Bloopers! Ordered the new cover and took it to the shop to be installed.
You guys also know that while I was in the hospital for 3 months, the rats found a plush place to live and have fun that was out of the weather. I've been months having it cleaned, checked out, and had an "all clear" for damage on the electronics and hydraulics .... Or at least so I thought. While it was in the shop I asked the guys to check the air conditioner just for safety sake and it was in the shop anyway. They found hoses with holes chewed threw. I still have to talk to them more to get a better understanding, but some kind of box had a hole chewed into it and the rats had made a bed in there. It's still not fixed. Thought I'd get a second opinion because of the expense. The dash has to come out to fix this box thingy.
RATS ARE GONE! I tried everything, poison, traps, buckets of water & peanut butter (which I thought would really do the job). What finally worked was BLEACH! Spray undiluted bleach behind and under everything. Take the drawers out and spray behind them. Even outside around your tires (not on the tires) and underneath it.. For some reason they hate the smell. I bet I have the cleanest MH in town.....but still have lots of expensive work to do with this last bit of news about the air. Air works fine, just what carries the air is all a mess.
I welcome all suggestions .
Thanks for your support and for thinking of me. I've been really upset over this MH stuff.

Glad to have you crawl out from under the MH hiding place.
Watch out for the rat pack.

I have seen those tiny forager (sp?) ants in the coach. I know that the environmental pesticide folks use liquid cloves (they have a sprayer full of the stuff) and ants hate liquid cloves. I wonder if that also would work with other critters.....

Hi Guys,
The guy at the shop called that box "the Pentium or plentium". I don't know if I spelled that correctly or not. It's the compartment that distributes the air through the vents, defroster, etc. The box has a door on it and the rats chewed through the door. Now the box doesn't hold air to distribute. It all comes out the defroster.
I heard about the clove oil but what someone told me was to boil mineral oil and fresh cloves to make a clove oil. Put it on cotton balls all through the coach. Again, it's about the smell. I soaked the cotton balls in the cooked clove oil and put them in sippy cups and set them all around under and in the cabinets and storage places. That didn't seem to help. Or maybe everything I was doing discouraged them. But when I went in with the bleach they left. However, the bleach can't go under the hood!
I have to get that dash out (labor intensive) and get all that leads (hoses, etc) from the air unit cleaned up and that box replaced. Then I have to figure some way to keep them out.
I live on the water and I think these aren't ordinary mice or rats. They seem to be more destructive. The guys are calling them wharf rats. They live in the rip rap.
Thanks for the info. Keep it coming cause looks like the war is on with these buggers. I'm gonna have ta get my 38 and the lawn chair and have a sit-too with them if they keep on!
Hope everyone is reading these posts and checking out their coach because these things can do some really expensive damage to a coach!
And so goes my saga....... Charliene VS Rat Pack!

Just for edification purposes, it is called Plenum. It is a box that maintains positive pressure, so to speak. You can Wiki it for a good definition.
I told you above to watch out for the rat pack! Sheesh!
