Welcome to RVing. The world will never look the same again. We've spent a good portion of the last 10 years or so on the road. Now when we watch the news or TV in general, we've been to a lot of the places they're talking about. It makes America more personal to us now.
Also, slow down and enjoy the journey. There's more to see than the highway. Poor health forced us to slow down and I'm glad it did. We generally go about 200-250 miles then settle in for a week (and sometimes months). Buy a paper and look for local events/festivals. Go online and check out the local 'calendar of events'. Ask locals for their top three things to see or do. You'll be amazed at the interesting things they'll come up with. Live like a 'local' for a while. Ask fellow travelers about their favorite places. I have a 20 year old Atlas that I've highlighted and scribbled notes in since it was brand new. Anytime I hear about an interesting place to see, I grab the Atlas and add it. It's dog-eared and taped but I'd be heartbroken if I lost it.
