Hello from Milwaukee, WI

Hello..

I've been stalking this forum for quite some time.. I just made my 1st post and figured I better take the time to introduce myself.

My name is Eric. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI called Oak Creek. I have owned an RV for the past 7 years.

My first RV was what I called my "trainer wheel" one. It was a 1995 HR Vacationer. I wasn't worried about the bumps and bruises that are inevitable when negotiating some of the campgrounds we visit. It was a great RV and even transported my kids (3), GF and brother round-trip from Milwaukee to the Mt. Rushmore area and back.

Shortly after our 2012 trip to Mt. Rushmore (actually just before/during, but couldn't work out the logistics of getting it in time) I got my second RV. Its a 2012 Itasca Sunstar 35F. However, this time, its a joint affair. I believe my excitement and passion for Rv'ing infected my GF to the point that we purchased the Sunstar together.

I first got into the RV world because some buddies and I rented a couple RV's and went to a NASCAR race in Joliet, IL. I couldn't believe how nice everyone was to perfect strangers. There were about 6-10 guys and two RV's and we didn't have a clue what to do (I'm sure it wasn't because most of us got three sheet's to the wind on the trip down from Milwaukee). Our neighbors took the time to help us set-up everything we need to enjoy the weekend. They were so helpful and friendly, I figured all RV'ers were this way and decided I wanted to do more RV'ing, but with the kids. So my journey started.

We mainly do weekend State Park camping within a couple hours of Milwaukee, but we do get in a major week long vacation. Last year was Yellowstone and this year is Gettysburg and Colonial Williamsburg area. We get to have fun family time the weekends I have my kids and a "sneak peek" glimpse of what it will be like when we are empty nester's on weekends I don't have the kids.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it... I enjoy reading and learning from this forum, hopefully I can make a positive contribution.

I've attached a couple of pic's of the "Rig"... two of the pic's are from when we first picked it up at the dealership, and the 3rd is a pic at a wayside in MN on our way to Yellowstone (brothers car in tow).

Welcome from another southern WI (former - now retired) resident.

When you go to Williamsburg, check out Chickahominy Riverfront Park. Make your reservations well in advance and ask for site 321, if it's available. You'll have nothing behind you but river and you're only 10 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and warm wishes..

Also, JMonroe, I actually did a search and saw your recommendation on another thread about Chickahominy Riverfront Park. I looked at the website and it said I could only make reservations 60 days in advance. I am looking into that as a possibility, but scared of waiting until May to make reservations. Not sure how busy things get down there, but I don't want to miss out because I waited until the end of May to make July reservations. I may have to come up with a back-up plan.
