Hello from Minnesota

We just purchased our first RV. It is a Class A Winnebago Journey Model 39K
As you can see we are from Minnesota. We want to get out of the Minnesota winters so are starting to research where to go. Any suggest of spots to go for the months of December thru March?

Lawgirl11;

We are glad you joined us. Congratulations on the purchase of your Winnebago Journey. Sorry I can't help you with your question on wintering in the south. I do go to FL for 3 weeks in March and plan to do the same in 2014. Browse the forums that interest you and don't be afraid to ask questions as we have a great group here who like to help when they can.

One of your best sources (besides the people on this forum) would be Reviews of RV Parks and Campgrounds - RV Park Reviews

Pat

PS: My wife and I retired from MN to TN about 4 years ago. Because of weather and taxes. We still winter in Florida in the winter because TN is too cool for us then. Hope you find some nice spots.

We have been " Fultimers " for over 2 years.
We are going to S.Padre IS,Tx. For the third winter.
Three months at the KOA. If yor stay three months it
is $800.00 a month, full hookup 50 amp., Including elec.
From what we are told, cheaper and less traffic than Fl..warmer also.
Some wind to contend with. But we are right on the bay side.
Good luck. Not every place is is right for every one.
Oh, yes we are homeless.

I am in Mich. and we winter in the South. I say South because we move around a lot. The rig has wheels and we use 'em. been doing this for 15 years. Most of our Winter time is spent in AZ and the TX gulf coast. maybe a month in those states. Somewhat lesser time in FL,AL and MS. NM is just a pass thru as it gets and stays cold there. CA is is very nice but a bit too pricey for us.
The first 5 years we just kept moving, never spending a week in any one place. As the years wore on we have come to the rough schedule I mentioned above.
Don't lock yourself in to long term reservations until you have spent a LITTLE time in all the sun belt areas.
We traveled from FL to CA every year for 3 years. Then started backing off the short stays and spent a week or so in favorite areas. We now spend a month in TX and a month in AZ and travel the rest of the time.

Howdy from SC and welcome to the forums. Congrats on the new purchase too! We aren't full timers yet, but we do winter a lot in Florida. Good luck!

Welcome aboard and congrats on your purchase. Winters, HMMM? Well everyone has there own idea of where they like to be but for us it's FL from Dec. 1 to May 1. Our park is in Zephyrhills. www.emeraldpointervresort.com if you'd like to look at the site. Good Luck with your decision on where to go and just maybe see you down the road.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

We just became FT and are going to Fl. this first winter. Looking for a winter base.

The tax advantages are best in Fl. Tx., or SD. Good luck and safe travels.

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the group!

Congrats on the new rig!

Hawaii's nice that time of year! That rig can swim, can't it?

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hi folks. We're here in the frozen north land as well, just south of the twin cities.

Do what we did. We started out about eighteen years ago and just went south. We explored a lot and found some favorite places that we revisited as well as some we never went back to. It was fun.

You now have a house on wheels. If you get tired or bored of a place, move on. Life is a Journey!

We are MN folks that retired out of PA. Fulltime now, until we cannot, or change our minds.

We go everywhere it is not cold, not hot, and not too many bugs, but we dont repeat-visit a lot. Doing, being, traveling and seeing; the Journey is our Destination.

Some folks go to the same places for many years, and that is fine for some. That does not tantilize us as we are adventurers. After we have been everywhere we will know where we may visit again, but being in the same place often is not very appealing.

Happy Trails!
