Hello from NC Foothills

I've been lurking on this site for years but mostly posted on the Grand Design Owners forum, thought I'd finally introduce myself.

My wife and I moved to Hudson, NC from Ft Bragg several years after I retired from the Army. We like camping and riding our motorcycle in the mountains. Heading to a campground I rode the bike and she drove the truck slam full of camping gear. After a few years of that we bought our first trailer, a tiny KZ toy hauler. It was lacking many things but when you’re first starting out, you don’t know what you don’t know! We made it work and towed that thing all over the country and had a blast! After a few years we moved up to a 36’ Toy Hauler. We just sold it a few weeks ago. We had a lot of fun in it and made several trips out to CA seeing lots of National Parks there and to and from. It was a lot of work though, something was always needing repair and it was like having a second job. Fortunately I’m handy and like working on things but enough is enough. Now we’re waiting on a Rockwood Mini Lite we ordered. Hopefully it won’t have as many problems. It’ll be a big change not traveling with the motorcycle anymore. We’re looking forward to many new adventures and have already made a few reservations for upcoming trips.

Glad you're here. This forum is awesome.

Your home base is smack dab in some fine motorcycling ain't it. We did that for several years, garaged the bikes in what for us was the best place and traveled without em. Kinda made sense cuz there aren't that many places that are truly excellent for biking

RVing is therapeutic, even the working-on-stuff part imo

Many many years ago, when I was doing my inpatient psych rotation, the resident looked around and said, "All this is, is a bunch of bossy women treating grown men like children. We should take the money they spent on this place, buy an RV and just take em across the country. Do a campfire every night, ya know? Roast weenies and just not talk so much. Now that would do a man some good." I think there might possibly be some logic in that. I dunno. We are good at sending people down range, not so good at bringing em home. Gotta be a better way.

First, welcome to the group.
Second thing, wife wouldn't have a motorcycle for numerous years. I finally got her to ride on a Spyder, now she has her license for it and will go on it by herself.

We have a toy hauler and full time, we haul the Spyder with us.

Thanks for the welcomes! Just came back from the shop servicing the bearings on the bike trailer. Since the toy hauler is sold we'll be pulling the bike trailer behind the truck and doing VRBOs on our trip out west this summer. Whenever the new Mini Lite is ready for pick up it'll get plenty of use too.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.
