Hello from NC SE Coast
Hi,
We are transitioning from many years cruising aboard our 47ft sloop to joining the RV community. Our purpose for joining iRV2 is to learn all we can about RVing so as to make an informed decision on what to purchase, (length, power, equipment, chassis, layout, cost per mile, maintenance, insurance, etc.) and our biggest question; motor coach or 5th wheel trailer. We are ready to drink from the fire hose to gain a rapid understanding of rv living for several months at a time.
Any suggestions you might have to guide us to maximize our membership in the iRV2 forum would be greatly appreciated. My investigation up to this point has been trying to identify the quality manufacturers of motor homes and 5th wheel trailers.
Thanks,
John

I think you will find a wide range of possibilities here, hope you have a large bucket to that fire hose...

Hi John! Welcome to IRV2! It's great to have you join us!
We pulled a 5er for 10 years before getting a MH last year. If I were in your position I would consider the following things:
1. If you plan to do a lot of traveling around the country I would choose a motorhome. If you will be mostly local camping with occasional longer trips then I would go with a 5er.
2. Will the budget allow getting a motorhome, considering the initial cost and the greater yearly maintenance costs, especially with a diesel pusher?
3. Do you have a vehicle that can be easily towed behind a motorhome, or if not, will the budget allow buying one?
There are many other considerations, but these would be at the top of the list for me.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
