Hello from NH (for now)
Hi all,
My wife and I have started researching buying our first MH with the grand plan of going full time. I work for a software company and I have a remote job.
I took the job a year ago when we debated moving but could not decide where to land. Too many family and friends scattered around the country. About a month ago, I was speaking with someone who had full-timed for a couple years and realized it was a good option for us. We can make the loop and spend a couple months at each place. It also fits into our love for traveling. We are Beer Geeks and enjoy finding new micro-breweries.
My wife and I have been reading all of the wonderful information from this forum and are just about comfortable enough to formulate some questions. Took awhile to know what questions to ask.
We look forward to speaking with you through this forum and hopefully meeting you when we make the leap.
Safe Travels,
Rod and Becky Rodeman

full timing
As I am sure you are aware, go slow and find the RV that fits your wants and needs.
We like the motorhome with a toad, a lot of folks like the 5th wheels.
We found that by making a must have list and a want list it helped us narrow down what to look at.
Good luck

Hey Rod & Becky!
Hope you find just the right one for you. We did several months of mind numbing research before figuring out what we wanted to fit our lifestyle {or what we assumed it would be }.
We are very pleased with our decisions even though there have been some problems to go along with the learning curve, but hey, that's normal right?!
You'll find loads of helpful insight here and searching for specifics is easy.
Best of luck and keep us all posted.

Welcome from a fairly new member to you. Found a lot of REALLY friendly and helpful people on this site. You might want to get a book on where to set up your domicile from the point of finances vehicle tags etc. It helped us!
Also check with an RV insurance agent. They can give you the skinny on which states have good, better, and best insurance for full-timers.
enjoy this site, and welcome!

Hi Rod & Becky, welcome to the forum. Best of luck with your job/travels. Come on down to Pensacola or Destin. McGuire's Pub has excellent beer from their micrbrewery. Give me a PM if you decide to do that and the first beer is one me.

Thank you, all for the great welcome. I have seen how helpful everyone is here and am glad I found the site.
I realize my signature might be a bit misleading. We are not ready to pull the trigger on a rig yet (most likely will get serious in the Spring.) We are still looking at floorplans in MHs within our budget, model years, and length to see what we like/dislike. The advice to list need vs want is a great one and we have already started the lists. I will need to travel on occasion for work, so we are looking at getting a DP over a 5th wheel. Becky thinks it would be easier for her to pack up and move by herself, if needed, while I am not there. We are also deciding on a toad. Most likely we will tow our Dodge Dakota initially. However are debating a convertible, more gas friendly vehicle. Why not have a fun toad?
After looking at the residency posts and doing some research outside this forum, looks like the definition of resident is a bit strict for NH. We have enjoyed the lack of income tax and sales tax (don't believe the Tax Free NH slogans. Property tax makes up for it), but are leaning towards SD for when we go full time. They almost appear to embrace the full-timers.
I will be moving to the specific forums from here to post my questions and look forward to getting to know everyone. If anyone is in the seacoast area of NH, please give us a shout. We’d love to buy you a pint and hear your stories.
Jim & BJ, we will be in FL for part of the loop, so we will definitely give you a shout when we get there.
Rod
