Funny...Just a few minutes ago I was doing research on the "Top of the World" route. (Milepost and Bell's travel guide) Since your from Whitehorse, what is your opinion on the Klondike / Taylor Hwy route? In the following areas:
~ Is it better to run it in middle June (east to west Whitehorse YK. to Chicken AK. / Tok AK.) or west to east in late Aug?
~ Are the grades other websites talk about that steep? On the gravel sections, do vehicles traveling in the other direction slow down as to not kick stones up.

Sadly I can't help you there! We've never driven it ourselves. One of the things we hope to do with our new RV. Amazing that we've lived here as long as we have, yet haven't seen that much of the territory.

Now you will not have any excesses not to see more of BC and the YK....
happy camping...
Hope to do the Alcan in 16'....been up to the Fairbanks area many times (fly up) over the last 15 years. Besides doing a Alaska trip, would like to spend time touring the BC. Provincial parks.
