hello from Turks and Caicos Islands

Hi y'all.
This is my first post on this forum. It's been a year since we bought a travel trailer. We keep it in the USA and visit it in the late summer. We just spent three weeks in it, in Ft. Collins CO. We hope to do this every year, and expand it to a couple months as we get our ducks in a row.

The rest of the year we live on a small island south of the Bahamas, where we dive, sail, fish, take photos......you know. The whole tropical island thing.

We are hoping we can get to the point where we basically divide our time between the travel trailer and our boat, and cut the house out of the loop.

Sound like a reasonable plan?

Most excellent! Sail to the USA and hop in the trailer. House superfluous.

A number of years ago I think the Turks and Caicos wanted to join Canada. Wish it had happened. Canada could do with some tropics!

my gosh, you almost nailed it in one. Plan is to sail to Florida, leave boat in yard there for hurricane season, drive rental car to Ft. Collins and spend hurricane season up at around 7300 ft. in trailer. Reverse the trip in late october . We're slowly getting all the parts of this plan assembled. It's taken awhile to get this far along. For 40 years it was only an unfinished dream.

There are a lot of Canadians living here. Well, by "a lot" I mean probably a thousand. I am guessing there are about 300 or so Americans. Another thousand brits, a sprinkling of Ozralites and other nationalities, and of course a bunch of Haitians. Whole country is only about 30,000.

Greetings to you...from a previous Deputy Director at OPBAT (Operation Bahamas and Turks and Caicos)

Lived in Nassau and visited The TCI may times and always enjoyed the visits. The live aboard boat and full-time RV life is not for everyone, but if it works for you, that's great! It sounds like you will have the best of both worlds

Best of luck!

Cruisers, USCG, Texans......this is all very familiar stuff to me. Sounds like our kind of forum.

Thanks.
We're in a down period right now. Just hauled the catamaran out for a few months while we get thru storm season and get some work done on it, and we just put the trailer in storage in northern Colorado after spending three weeks in it, just getting home a week ago yesterday.

might be time to get the other knee replaced. This retirement lifestyle is wearing them out.

Wow, here it is a year later and I am exactly in the same place. Just put the trailer into storage in CO, just put the boat out of the water for hurricane season.

But I did get the other knee replaced.

How y'all been? Have a good year?
