Hello from upstate New York

Hello from upstate New York! My wife and I are retiring in the near future and will be purchasing a used RV for full-time living. We look forward to warm winters, with absolutely no snow. We’re currently looking for the RV, it should be a Newmar Dutch Star or Ventana around 40 feet. We both travel around the US, but never really had time to enjoy it, we are looking to fix that. Our domicile state will be New York, we would like it to be elsewhere, but I think it would be very difficult. We are looking for some advice on what to buy, and hopefully soon on what to pay.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Better get busy, you've got a lot of tire kicking to do!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome to the forum.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Visit as many RV dealers and shows as you can to get an idea of what the various manufacturers offer.

As to Domicile if you are full time you are not tied to NY. We use Florida as our Domicile through St. Brendan's Isle mail service. We have our FL driver's license and voter registration through them as well. We have been using them for 6 years or so.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

I think the issue with domicile is we will still own income generating real estate in NY after we are full time...

IF it is strictly a business you may still be able to change your domicile. IF you are using it as an address then probably not. I would give the folks at St. Brendan's a call and see what they say.

Good luck
