Hello From VA
My wife and I just signed for a Newmar Ventana 4037 but haven't taken delivery yet. Our only previous RV experience was with a Winnebago View we had for ayear. Hopefully we will find this rig more conducive to long range travels. I already have questions so I will post on the appropriate forum. Thanks

Welcome to iRV2!
I recall my surprise when I got my first personal property tax bill for our first coach (2009 Monaco Diplomat 40SKQ). We were living in Fairfax county and I took the paperwork to DMV to get it registered. Less than 2 weeks later, I got a bill from the Fairfax County Tax Assessor for $4,768. That was a bit of a surprise.
When you visit DMV to register it, there's a block on the form to designate where the vehicle is principally garaged:

The tax assessor for that location will be notified of your Ventana's presence.
So, I'm nor sure of Fauquier County's personal property tax, but I did discover that by storing our coach at a facility in Prince William County, I save a lot (about $3K, at the time) of money. I know it's a bit of a hike from Hume over to PW County, but, thy don't tax boats, planes or RV's as personal property. Rather, they charge a $24/year registration fee for RV's.
Enjoy your Ventana!
Take care,
Stu

I think Fauquier county charges 1.5% on vehicles. Luckily I have a large asphalt storage facility in Prince William county but best of all we have a home in FL which has no PP Tax so that is where she will be registered and mostly kept.
